National
Australian Competition & Consumer Commission (ACCC)
The Australian Competition & Consumer Commission (ACCC) promotes competition and fair trade in the market place to benefit consumers, businesses and the community. It also regulates national infrastructure services. Its primary responsibility is to ensure that individuals and businesses comply with the Commonwealth competition, fair trading and consumer protection laws.

Australian Consumer Law
On 1 January 2011 the Australian Consumer Law (ACL) commenced. The ACL applies nationally and in all States and Territories, and to all Australian businesses. For transactions that occurred up to 31 December 2010, the previous national, State and Territory consumer laws will continue to apply.

CHOICE
CHOICE is the number one advocate of consumer rights in Australia. As the public face of the Australian Consumers’ Association (ACA) CHOICE is a completely self funded body that is committed to providing consumers with advocacy and advice. Members receive independent and expert advice on the products and services they encounter every day, while the community at large benefits from vocal and active campaigns that champion consumer rights.

Commonwealth Ombudsman
The Commonwealth Ombudsman safeguards the community in its dealings with Australian Government agencies. The Ombudsman’s office handles complaints, conducts investigations, performs audits and inspections, encourages good administration, and carries out specialist oversight tasks. The Commonwealth Ombudsman is also the Defence Force, Immigration, Law Enforcement, Taxation, Postal Industry, ACT and Overseas Students Ombudsman.

Financial Ombudsman Service
The Financial Ombudsman Service fairly and independently resolves disputes between consumers — including some small businesses — and member financial services providers. Membership of the Financial Ombudsman Service is open to any financial services provider carrying on business in Australia.

MoneySmart
MoneySmart website is run by the Australian Securities and Investments Commission (ASIC) to help people make smart choices about their personal finances.

Private Health Insurance Ombudsman (PHIO)
The Private Health Insurance Ombudsman (PHIO) provides an independent service to help consumers with health insurance problems and enquiries. The Ombudsman can deal with complaints from health fund members, health funds, private hospitals or medical practitioners. Complaints must be about a health insurance arrangement.

SCAMwatch
SCAMwatch is a website run by the Australian Competition and Consumer Commission (ACCC). SCAMwatch provides information to consumers and small businesses about how to recognise, avoid and report scams.

Superannuation Complaints Tribunal
The Superannuation Complaints Tribunal is an independent dispute resolution body which deals with a diverse range of superannuation-related complaints and offers a free, 'user-friendly' alternative to the court system. The Tribunal deals with complaints relating to decisions and conduct of trustees, insurers, and other decision-makers in relation to regulated superannuation funds, approved deposit funds, annuities, life policy funds and Retirement Savings Accounts.

The Telecommunications Industy Ombudsman (TIO) is a fast, free and fair service that helps resolve telephone and internet complaints.

The Australian Human Rights Commision (AHRC)
The Australian Hum Rights Commission vision is simptl - Human rights: everyone, everywhere, everyday.

ACT
ACT Ombudsman
We consider and investigate complaints from people who believe they have been treated unfairly or unreasonably by an ACT Government department or agency, including the Australian Federal Police in its community policing role.

Fair Trading
The Office of Regulatory Services assists and protects the community through the administration of fair trading legislation. The main objective is to provide information to consumers to make them aware and confident when making purchases.

NSW
Fair Trading
NSW Fair Trading safeguards the rights of all consumers and advises business and traders on fair and ethical practice.

NSW Ombudsman
The NSW Ombudsman is an independent and impartial watchdog designed to ensure that NSW Government agencies fulfil their functions properly and improve their delivery of services to the public.

NT
Consumer Affairs
Consumer Affairs is a part of the Department of Justice, and aims to promote and regulate responsible business conduct through administration of a regulatory system that protects consumer interests.

Ombudsman NT
The Ombudsman receives and considers complaints from members of the public about Northern Territory Government departments, statutory authorities, shire or community councils, Northern Territory Police or Correctional Services.

QLD
Office of Fair Trading
The Office of Fair Trading strives to deliver a fair and safe marketplace for Queensland consumers and businesses.

Queensland Ombudsman
The Queensland Ombudsman's Office is an independent complaints investigation agency. Our role is to ensure public agencies (state government departments and bodies, and local councils) act fairly and make the right decisions for Queenslanders.

SA
Consumer and Business Services
The Office of Consumer and Business Affairs (OCBA) monitors business activities that affect consumers and investigates practices that may adversely affect the interests of consumers.

Ombudsman SA
Ombudsman SA investigates complaints about South Australian government and local government agencies, and conducts freedom of information reviews. Ombudsman SA can also receive information about government activities confidentially from whistleblowers.

TAS
Consumer Affairs and Fair Trading
Promoting integrity, fairness and safety for consumers and providing a high standard of service to the Tasmanian Community.

Ombudsman Tasmania
The Ombudsman is an independent officer appointed by the Governor, and answerable to the Parliament. Its role is to investigate the administrative actions of public authorities to ensure that their actions are lawful, reasonable and fair.

VIC
Consumer Affairs Victoria
Consumer Affairs Victoria is Victoria’s consumer affairs regulator. Its purpose is to help Victorians be responsible and informed traders and consumers.

Ombudsman Victoria
The Victorian Ombudsman promotes excellence in public administration in Victoria and seeks to ensure the highest possible standards of public sector service delivery to all Victorians.

WA
Consumer Protection
Consumer Protection promotes fair trading and protecting the rights of consumers and businesses in Western Australia. Consumer Protection WA is also responsible for some occupational licences, buying, selling and renting homes, cooperatives and not for profit legislation.

Ombudsman Western Australia
The Ombudsman investigates complaints about Western Australian public authorities including State government agencies, statutory authorities, local governments and public universities.
