Our Relationship-First Approach to celebrating and supporting old age is not only unique to Arcare, it's also considered by aged care experts globally to be at the forefront of elder-care.

One of the most important ways of supporting the development of these relationships is our internationally recognised Dedicated Assignments, which we won a 2015 Better Practice Award from the Australian Aged Quality Agency.

Arcare's Dedicated Assignments involve all team members committing to work regular shifts with exactly the same small group of clients every time they come to work.

Our aged care communities provide opportunities for everyone to get involved. Whether it be small social gathering in the cafe, group excursions on the residence bus, guest speakers, hobby groups or just the day-to-day conversations with familiar team members, each day offers a range of options to choose from.

These regular interactions and social opportunities are sensitively designed to enable clients to form meaningful friendships with each other and Arcare team members.

Arcare North Shore is Arcare's first residential aged care community in Far-North Queensland. We have multiple residences throughout South-East Queensland in the Sunshine Coast, North and South Brisbane, and the Gold Coast.

About Residential Aged Care

In the past, a distinction was drawn between aged care homes that offered "high level care" (which were commonly known as "nursing homes") and those that offered "low level care" (which were commonly known as "hostels"). From 1 July 2014 this distinction has ceased to apply in relation to permanent residential aged care, although it does continue to apply in relation to temporary respite care. Aged care homes can incorporate "extra service", which provides a higher standard of accommodation and services (such as meals) for an additional fee. Aged care homes that are not accredited, but which offer similar care and services, may be referred to as "Supported Living". See our Terminology page for detailed explanations of terms that relate to aged care, home care and retirement villages.
