27 Cockcroft Avenue, Monash ACT 2904

The Ralph Cartwright centre provides a cottage-style home set within the picturesque gardens and wetlands of the highly-awarded Goodwin village Monash. The centre specialises in high care and dementia care services across three discrete cottages: Bluebell, Azalea and Clover.

David Harper House is one of only a small number of live-in care facilities in the ACT that provides 24-hour onsite staff nurses, seven days a week. We also offer a range of quality clinical care services such as one-to-one nurse clinics led by a geriatrician working closely with our own Aged Care Specialist Nurse Practitioner.
Our approach is person-centred care, meaning we treat you as a whole person, including mental and emotional wellbeing, not just a “diagnosis”.

Refurbished in 2015, the fresh, light-filled Ralph Cartwright Centre provides everything you need to enjoy an active and social lifestyle. Residents enjoy comfortable, well-appointed lounge and dining areas plus sunny, secluded sitting spaces, shaded outdoor areas and secure gardens including Goodwin’s feature "pond" with its pontoon and resident wildlife.
There’s also:
• activity centre and dedicated activities team
• daily wellness and exercise classes
• private family dining room
• BBQ facilities
• onsite hairdressing service
• viewing pontoon over Goodwin pond
• walking paths through the landscaped gardens
• internet café
• library
• games and craft rooms
• hydrotherapy bath.
Bluebell Cottage also offers a men's shed where our gentleman residents can enjoy small woodwork and metalwork projects and socialise.
Choose fresh home-style meals
We understand that food is another important enjoyment in life. Our quality, home style food is cooked fresh on site daily and includes five or more courses a day with rotating seasonal menus designed with our hotel services experts and dietician.

A significant number of beds across Goodwin facilities are reserved for people with low means.
Goodwin is a community-based, not-for-profit organisation operating since the 1950s.

About Residential Aged Care

In the past, a distinction was drawn between aged care homes that offered "high level care" (which were commonly known as "nursing homes") and those that offered "low level care" (which were commonly known as "hostels"). From 1 July 2014 this distinction has ceased to apply in relation to permanent residential aged care, although it does continue to apply in relation to temporary respite care. Aged care homes can incorporate "extra service", which provides a higher standard of accommodation and services (such as meals) for an additional fee. Aged care homes that are not accredited, but which offer similar care and services, may be referred to as "Supported Living". See our Terminology page for detailed explanations of terms that relate to aged care, home care and retirement villages.
