Nestled amongst lovely gardens and close to the township of Colac, Barongarook Gardens offers a range of permanent care, including 60 total beds with 45 low care and 15 high care beds, with "ageing in place".

Residents can enjoy a selection of light and airy rooms, most with private ensuite. All rooms feature a private courtyard where residents and visitors can enjoy the tranquil garden.

Our clinical care services are managed by qualified, registered nurses and well-trained care staff. We focus on individualised care, ensuring dignity, respect and optimum quality of life for our residents. Respite, convalescent and unfunded care services are also available.

Residents enjoy a comprehensive lifestyle program with creative, innovative and engaging activities such as indoor bowls, guest speakers, and music, singing, dancing, and entertainment. We take our residents on regular bus outings and encourage participation in community recreational activities.

About Residential Aged Care

In the past, a distinction was drawn between aged care homes that offered "high level care" (which were commonly known as "nursing homes") and those that offered "low level care" (which were commonly known as "hostels"). From 1 July 2014 this distinction has ceased to apply in relation to permanent residential aged care, although it does continue to apply in relation to temporary respite care. Aged care homes can incorporate "extra service", which provides a higher standard of accommodation and services (such as meals) for an additional fee. Aged care homes that are not accredited, but which offer similar care and services, may be referred to as "Supported Living".
